Wild Watcher is a discovery layer over nature cameras that other organisations operate. Using the site means accepting what follows. It is written plainly rather than defensively, because the important parts are things you should actually know.
We do not own the cameras or the footage
Every camera belongs to the organisation that runs it — a national park service, a conservation charity, an aquarium, a research station. Wild Watcher does not host, record, re-stream or rebroadcast any footage. When you press play you are watching the operator’s own player, and their terms and copyright govern that footage.
Each camera names its operator and links back to the source. Some cameras cannot be embedded at all, because their licence does not allow it; those are shown as links to the operator’s page instead.
What you may not do with the footage
Because the footage is not ours to license, we cannot grant you rights to it. Do not record, redistribute, re-stream or commercially exploit any camera you find here without permission from its operator. Several operators explicitly forbid re-streaming.
What we try to get right, and what we cannot promise
We check every camera regularly and label it live, recently online, offline or status unknown based on those checks. A camera is never shown as live merely because a link exists.
Even so, these are outdoor cameras in remote places. They go down, freeze, get covered in snow, and are switched off for the season. Locations are given to the best of our knowledge and may be approximate to the site rather than the exact lens. Weather and local time are informational. Nothing here should be relied on for navigation, travel decisions, or safety.
The species listed for a camera describe what the operator says may be seen there. They are not a claim that an animal is on screen now. Wild Watcher does not currently perform automated wildlife detection, and we will not invent sightings.
Availability
The service is provided as-is, without warranty. It may be unavailable, change, or lose cameras when an operator withdraws one — which they may do at any time, for any reason, without telling us.
Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to scrape, overload or circumvent rate limits.
- Do not try to extract raw stream URLs or bypass any operator’s access controls.
- Do not use the site to harass anyone or to misrepresent where footage came from.
If you operate a camera listed here
We list cameras that are already public, we always attribute the operator, and we send traffic to you rather than away. If you would nonetheless like a camera removed or corrected, we will act on it — see Report a camera. No justification is required.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Wild Watcher is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or from third-party content reached through it.
